Maroc Grand Tour

After breakfast, you set out for Casablanca. A half-day city visit introduces the main highlights of both the modern districts and the medina.

The programme includes Place Mohammed V, designed by architect Joseph Marrast, the Royal Palace, the Central Market, the Habous quarter, the Mahkama du Pacha (built in 1941, a masterpiece of Moorish influence), the Aïn Diab Corniche, Place de la Nation and the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — the largest mosque in the country and the seventh largest in the world.

In the early afternoon, you continue to Rabat. Your visit begins at the fortified Kasbah of the Oudayas, with its 17th-century royal residence and Andalusian-style garden. You will also admire the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship, beside the medieval Hassan Tower, built at the end of the 12th century. You then continue towards Fès.

Fès, an imperial city dating back to the 13th century, is steeped in a rich multicultural history and full of surprises. This visit takes you deep into the intricate maze of the medina’s streets.

Leaving Fès, you pass through Ifrane’s winter ski resort, built to resemble a Swiss village, then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou in search of resident monkeys, before crossing the Middle Atlas mountains.

You travel through forests, mountain springs, rugged rock formations and Berber villages before descending towards the Sahara.

Midway, you stop for lunch in Midelt, known for its rocks and fossils. The journey continues towards Erfoud, with panoramic views over the vast Ziz palm oasis along the way.

From there, 4x4 vehicles take you into the desert dunes of Merzouga. A highlight of the journey follows: a camel ride across the Sahara dunes. In the majestic silence, you watch the sunset as you ride at a gentle pace to your desert camp.

After enjoying a spectacular sunrise over the dunes and a delicious breakfast, you leave the Sahara towards Skoura.

The road ahead is breathtaking, winding through landscapes lined with majestic palm trees and a succession of remarkable sights.

A highlight of the day awaits in the Todgha Gorges, where a pleasant walk immerses you in this striking setting.

Leaving Skoura, you cross a spectacular arid plateau dotted with film sets and studios where many celebrated movies have been shot.

You stop at the UNESCO-protected village of Aït Ben Haddou, a favoured location for productions such as Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator and Babel.

After an optional lunch, you continue to Marrakech along one of Morocco’s most scenic routes — built nearly a century ago by the French Foreign Legion. You cross the picturesque Tizi n’Tichka Pass before descending to the plains of Marrakech.

Marrakech is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city — a blend of history, tradition and culture.

Your visit begins with the iconic 12th-century Koutoubia minaret. You admire the mosque’s stonework and stroll through the lush, shaded gardens around it.

You continue to the fortress housing the royal quarters, with their monumental gates, then explore the residential neighbourhood and lively local market. Next comes the Jewish quarter, known as the Mellah, followed by the Bahia Palace — a series of traditional riads with exquisite gardens and courtyards of geometric design. Along Rue Kasbah, you visit the Saadian Tombs.

After lunch, you discover a regional speciality, then venture into the medina for traditional souks, bakeries, Moroccan craftsmanship and the Ben Youssef Medersa. For a distinctive experience, you meet a traditional herbalist and learn about the spices used in Moroccan healing practices.
